The Campo Lindo wind farm welcomed 10 students from Inacap and AIEP in Los Ángeles.
Successful Third Edition of AES Chile's "Women with Energy" Program
February 5, 2025
For the third consecutive year, AES Chile developed the "Women with Energy" Internship Program, aimed at students pursuing careers related to the renewable energy sector. This time, 10 students from Inacap and AIEP, both institutions located in the Los Ángeles commune, participated in the initiative held at the Campo Lindo wind farm.
The program's objective is to strengthen and contribute to gender equity, while breaking stereotypes and opening new professional paths for women by 2030. Additionally, it allows the creation of support networks and introduces students to the sector by showcasing its most interesting aspects.
The selected students are from the fields of renewable energy technology, energy engineering, electrical and electronic technology, industrial engineering, risk prevention, and civil construction.
During the 20 chronological hours of the initiative, the students learned about all the components that enable the operation of a wind farm, including safety, environmental compliance, and community commitments.
Alejandra Díaz Sanzana, a student of Energy Engineering at Inacap Los Ángeles, stated that this is "an activity that encourages women to develop in this field. It also helps in the formation of renewable energies, as you realize it involves many aspects, such as environmental, operational, and safety. These instances are very relevant because they encourage being part of this career and learning about renewable energies."
Meanwhile, Macarena Lizana, Human Resources Manager at AES Chile, said, "We aim for the students to comprehensively understand the company, including operational, safety, community, and environmental aspects, which are tremendously important. Additionally, we explain the company's strategy because we believe it is crucial for them, as future workers in the energy sector, to complement this knowledge with everything they will face in their future jobs."
César Morales, Manager of the South Complex at AES Chile, expressed his satisfaction with this "third edition of the Women with Energy program, as it is very rewarding to see that most of the people giving lectures to these students are predominantly women. This program is an enriching opportunity for them and for us as a company."
Morales added that AES Chile's relationship with communities is based on three pillars, one of which is education and training. "We are embedded in the Biobío region and have a close relationship with the communities and educational centers in the area. Promoting our education pillar, especially related to renewable energies, is the perfect mix, and the value creation is tremendous," he assured.
