About 40 students from Liceo Don Orione participated in a talk about renewable energies and then toured the main facilities and components of the plant.
Students from Los Angeles visited the facilities of the Campo Lindo Wind Farm of AES Chile
December 13, 2023
In order to promote knowledge and bring the community closer to the generation of wind energy, the Campo Lindo Wind Farm of AES Chile received third-year students from the Don Orione Professional Technical High School in Los Angeles.
It was a group of 38 students studying the specialty of electricity, in an initiative that is part of the company's Open Doors Program, whose purpose is for the community to learn on the ground about the operations and projects of AES Chile, both in the Biobío region as well as throughout the country.
The visit began with a safety talk, and then delved into the generation of renewable energy, specifically wind, and its contribution to the National Electric System. Subsequently, the activity ended with a tour of the park's wind turbines, where the students were able to learn about their main components and the way in which they operate.
The head of Operations and Maintenance of Campo Lindo, Cristián Olivares, commented that “for us it is very important to carry out this visit, because we are meeting a necessary milestone of transparency towards the community and the students. We are very interested in having schools experience on the ground what the operation of a wind farm means so that they know its operation and main elements and thus have an in-situ perception of the structure of a wind turbine.”
Carlos Mundaca, teacher at Liceo Don Orione, assured that “we are very grateful for the opening of the company, because it is very important and significant for the students to be able to be in the facilities and get to know the park, in addition to knowing about the installation process and operation. We hope this continues and we can generate a good bond to continue working with the students.”
About Campo Lindo
The Campo Lindo Wind Farm, located in Los Angeles, came into operation this year. It is part of the Greentegra transformational strategy, which AES Chile launched in May 2018 and which, along with accelerating the future of energy, seeks to contribute to mitigating the effects of climate change, through the development of renewable solutions.
