In other initiatives, the Los Maquis Neighborhood Council completed the project called “Strengthening the corporate headquarters structure.”

Within the framework of the ninth version of the Puchuncaví Competitive Fund, the residents of the commune achieved new improvements in their community infrastructure, with important inaugurations in recent days.

Along these lines, the Friends of La Greda Senior Adult Club fulfilled an old desire, which is the renovation of the ceiling of its community headquarters, a place that they also use as a chapel.

The old roof had cracks and leaks, which complicated its use, especially in the winter months.

However, thanks to the efforts of the neighbors - who applied to the Puchuncaví Fund - they were able to not only repair the roof, but also build a new and larger one, with a social investment that involved $10 million.

Mercedes González, president of the Friends of La Greda Senior Adult Club, highlighted that “I am very happy to have achieved this dream so longed for by the people of La Greda, because it is a place that was all open and it was not the best. “Now we are giving dignity to people and improving their quality of life.”

Claudio Salinas, representative of the Municipality of Puchuncaví, said that as a resident of the commune he remembered the old roof since he was a child. “This is a very nice project, which exceeds 10 million and I want to congratulate all the neighbors for being able to complete it,” he said.

Meanwhile, Luis Guerra, a permanent deacon close to the community of La Greda, assured that “it was complex to celebrate here in winter. “This is a meeting place and people of all faiths come, because it is important to accompany the family of loved ones.”

Paola Olivares, director of the AES Chile Foundation, thanked the community's residents for their work. “We are very happy and proud to see how the efforts of social leaders see the light of such important projects for the community, because they are concrete and visible initiatives that do nothing other than improve the quality of life of the inhabitants.”

Also under the contributions of the Puchuncaví Competitive Fund, the Los Maquis community completed the project called “Reinforcement of the Headquarters Structure”, which included the repair of the walls, both inside and outside.

The initiative - which involved an investment of $10 million - also included holding six workshops on climate change, aimed at the community and especially children.
