Porvenir Neighborhood Association expands its social center with support from AES Chile
March 25, 2024
The work carried out by neighborhood associations is crucial for achieving the growth and wellbeing of their communities. And to be able to carry it out, it is very important to have a suitable space to hold their meetings and activities. The Community Infrastructure Fund, part of the Collaboration and Mutual Benefit Agreement between the San Matias wind project and the communities in its area of influence, made the dream of the Porvenir Neighborhood Association a reality: expanding its social center.
An additional 45 square meters were added to the neighborhood center, which, however, retained its original design. This improvement will benefit over 200 people, considering that this space is shared by members of various organizations present in the area, such as the neighborhood association, sports club, senior citizens' club, health workshop, rural water supply committee, among other organizations in the sector.
Neftalí Bianchi, president of the Porvenir neighborhood association, expressed gratitude to AES Chile and the community team professionals for making the project a reality. He stated, "This fund has allowed us to carry out a long-awaited project that we had as a community, which has enabled us to expand by 45 square meters, including a bathroom and an office for the management and administration of our board. The main hall has also been expanded, allowing us to use it for meetings, training, events, among other activities."
Meanwhile, Benjamín Rengifo, Head of Territorial Management and Communities at AES Chile in the Biobío region, stated, "As the San Matías wind project, we are very pleased with the completion of the expansion works of the Porvenir Neighborhood Association's social center."
He added, "Our social investment strategy includes a fundamental pillar associated with Community Infrastructure projects, and this project succeeded in improving the existing community space, adapting to the new times and seeking to generate greater social participation from the residents of the locality."
