  • At the opportunity, Horacio Inostroza from the San Francisco Cuel Neighborhood Council was elected as president of the instance.

With the presence of all its members, the second session of the Participatory Global Fund (FGP) of the Mesamávida wind farm by AES Chile took place. Representatives from the four social organizations—neighborhood councils of Mesamávida, San Manuel, San Francisco Cuel, and Paso de Arena—as well as two from the company and one from the municipality gathered to review and vote on the proposals and guidelines for the second version of the fund, presented by the AES Chile Foundation.

During the meeting, Horacio Inostroza, leader of the San Francisco de Cuel Neighborhood Council, was proclaimed president of the instance. It was also established that organizations will have a maximum of 6 weeks from the fund disbursement to submit their financial reports. Additionally, after attending the project development workshop, social organizations will have a maximum of 3 weeks to submit the required documentation to avoid delays in fund requests.

Horacio Inostroza expressed gratitude for the unanimous support of the four neighborhood councils in his election as FGP president. He added that in this second version, his neighborhood council aims to allocate the company's contribution to acquiring "solar-powered pumps for extracting groundwater and improving security at their social headquarters."

Rubén Barahona, Operations Manager of the Mesamávida Wind Farm, expressed satisfaction with the presence of the four social organization representatives from his area of influence at this second council meeting. "We now have a year of experience, and the results of the first version were very positive. I am confident that in this second opportunity, the neighborhood councils will once again realize spectacular projects for the benefit of their members," he said.

Paola Olivares, Director of the AES Chile Foundation, stated that this social investment program allows them to work collaboratively in processes and support neighbors in achieving their aspirations, thereby reinforcing community life.

The FGP Council is responsible for defining the guidelines each year that guide the project financing process to be undertaken by the four neighborhood councils in the rural western sector of the municipality.

The AES Chile Foundation, as the Technical Secretariat, manages and supports social organizations in the process of planning, execution, and evaluation of each initiative.

Mesamávida is a wind farm located in the Los Ángeles municipality that injects 100% renewable energy into the National Electric System. It is part of AES Chile's Greentegra transformational strategy launched in May 2018, which aims to accelerate the future of energy while contributing to mitigating the effects of climate change.
