Residents of Tocopilla received a significant contribution to expand their job opportunities by participating in the "Water Desalination Plant Operation" course, which was carried out as part of the employability training under the Labor Scholarships program by Sence, funded by AES Chile.
The course, which comprised three modules totaling 192 clock hours, saw active participation from 10 individuals, including 5 women.
Focused on enhancing employability, the program provided participants with valuable tools to operate desalination plants and maintain processes for producing high-purity water.
Collaboration with the Tocopilla Municipality, through the Municipal Labor Intermediation Office (OMIL), was pivotal in identifying the community's training needs, ensuring the course aligned with the needs of the residents.
Karen Eliana Quiñones Gamboa, one of the participants, expressed gratitude and emphasized the value of this opportunity for her future career and personal development. "I primarily want to thank for the opportunity provided to us, as I feel it will open up more avenues for me in the future. I believe this is a benefit that should be seized by all as it is of great help," she said.
To complement the course's content certifying their knowledge in water desalination plant management, students visited and observed firsthand the operation of the desalination plant at the Norgener power station of AES Chile.
Vanni Boggio, Manager of the North Complex at AES Chile, highlighted, "Our company is committed to the communities where we operate, and therefore, we seek to provide residents with tools that enhance their employability, offering knowledge and competencies that enable them to integrate into the workforce."
