Members of the Rarinco-Los Robles Neighborhood Association in Los Ángeles gave a positive assessment after attending a participatory workshop held with the AES Chile team.

On this occasion, about 50 neighbors identified their main community needs and then prioritized them to decide which project to present to the Global Participatory Fund provided by the AES Chile Foundation.

This fund will be provided throughout the entire lifespan of the Campo Lindo Wind Farm and will finance initiatives of territorial social organizations focused on local development.

Thanks to the guidance received in the workshop—which includes the development of an action plan and the definition of deadlines and responsibilities—the neighbors determined that the resources from the first version of the fund would be allocated to finance the repair of their Rural Drinking Water (APR) system, which will significantly improve the quality of life for each of the families who have seen a decrease in the supply of this vital element.

Solomon Valdebenito, the first director of the Rarinco Los Robles Neighborhood Association, stated, "The neighbors have highly valued what was done because they saw improvement in just a few days. The company has fulfilled its commitments. It has been a very good start to the year 2024 for us, as a neighborhood association."

On that same occasion, the neighbors received more good news: thanks to the funds from the Community Development and Infrastructure Plan of the Campo Lindo wind farm and the San Matías project ($20 million each), a one-hectare plot of land was purchased for the construction of a new community headquarters, which will also enable the development of community spaces such as a playground, sports field, among others, creating a safe place for development and recreation for the entire community

The president of the Rarinco-Los Robles Neighborhood Association, Juan Carlos Mesen, stated, "We are very happy as we were able to make the long-awaited purchase of land for the construction of our social headquarters. This project was generated thanks to the contribution of the construction funds from the San Matías and Campo Lindo Wind Farm Projects. It is located in a central location, accessible to all the neighbors in our sector."

Benjamin Rengifo, Head of Territorial Management and Communities in the Southern Zone of AES Chile, said, "It is very gratifying to make this announcement. One of the pillars of our social investment strategy is community infrastructure, as it allows us to strengthen community work for the future, as well as contribute a valuable space for the community to develop its various activities.

He added, "We are very pleased with the agreement reached by the neighborhood association to invest the Global Participatory Fund in a project that will allow the repair of the rural drinking water, as we know it is vital infrastructure because it provides drinking water to a large part of the neighbors."
