In order to promote sports and provide safe spaces for recreation, the Mesamávida Neighborhood Council of Los Angeles managed to establish a soccer field aimed at children and adolescents.

The initiative is part of the Mesamávida Wind Farm Participatory Global Fund, which is managed by the AES Chile Foundation (in charge of implementing the company's social investment strategy). It arose from the organization itself to open spaces for the youngest people and women in the sector, in line with the area of support for initiatives to promote healthy living and sports.

The project also included the expansion of a multipurpose room that will allow the development of community activities at different times of the year.
The opening ceremony, in which nearly 100 people participated, took place on December 23 and featured various teams, made up of children, youth and adults, who inaugurated the field with a series of friendly matches.

“I am grateful for the funds provided by the Mesamávida Wind Farm, since thanks to this agreement it is possible to carry out initiatives to support our young people who did not have a space to play sports,” said Juan Parra, president of the Mesamávida Neighborhood Council. .

The leader added that "given this need, we plan to build a soccer field to promote sports activities in our sector, which was very well received by each of the partners."

Meanwhile, the Territorial Head of Biobío Community Relations of AES Chile, Benjamín Rengifo, pointed out that “we are very happy to be able to fulfill a long-standing desire of the residents of the Mesamávida sector, since they now have their own space for sports and the recreaction. These types of projects not only improve the quality of life of the community, but also impact employment and the local economy, since the materials for their construction were purchased from suppliers that belong to the same sector."
