Neighbors of Las Quilas de Los Ángeles improve security thanks to contributions from the San Matías Wind Farm project

In order to improve the safety conditions in the sector, the residents of the Las Quilas de Los Ángeles locality managed to install lights on public roads, thanks to the contribution of the Trust Fund of the San Matías Wind Farm project of AES Chile.

The initiative consists of three new devices installed in different parts of the area: two of them on Route Q-34 (which connects Virquenco with Santa Fe) and the other at the intersection of road Q-296 with Q-34 ( by the Quilas).

This is a very important contribution given the low luminosity at night. “There were two parks that were without lights, the one that connects Virquenco with Santa Fe and the other in Las Quilas, where the bus drop-off and the railway line are, because there are people who frequently travel through this area,” said Alejandra Salas, president of the Social and Cultural Organization Committee of Adelanto La Araucanía.

 The town of Las Quilas is located in the rural area of ​​the commune of Los Ángeles, and has 164 inhabitants according to the last Census.

The head of Territorial Management and Communities in the Southern Zone of AES Chile, Benjamín Rengifo, assured that "we are very happy to be able to contribute to providing greater security to the residents of Las Quilas, who from now on have greater luminosity when traveling during the evening".

Rengifo added that “initiatives of this type ratify the fruitful results of dialogue between companies and communities. We hope to continue working with all neighbors on new solutions that they define, because we are interested in building a long-term relationship.”
