Neighbors of the Campo Lindo Wind Farm Get Certified in Backhoe Operations

December 27, 2024

The certification ceremony for 16 neighbors of the Campo Lindo wind farm of AES Chile, who passed the Heavy Machinery Operation Techniques Class D Backhoe course, was held at the Allipén Las Trancas neighborhood association headquarters in Los Ángeles.

The course lasted 80 hours, during which theoretical and practical knowledge was provided to operate this type of machinery safely and efficiently. The topics covered included: the principles of backhoe operation; safety, maintenance, and care standards; operation and field practices. This program responds to the labor needs of neighbors in a high-demand field in the area.

The 16 neighbors of the Campo Lindo Wind Farm who were trained strengthened their individual skills and competencies, seeking to improve their quality of life and enhance job insertion opportunities.

The certification ceremony was attended by Cristián Olivares, head of Operation and Maintenance of the Campo Lindo Wind Farm.

"I was pleased to see people happy to obtain their operator's license. More than trained, people leave strengthened by this achievement. The opportunity provided by AES Chile opens doors for the neighbors of Los Ángeles and strengthens them as individuals and professionals. I am proud of what we are doing at AES Chile for the benefit of the people living in the communities near our parks," said Olivares.

Julio Juanillo of the Allipén Las Trancas Neighborhood Association, who also participated in this course, mentions that "it was a great course where we saw camaraderie and growth. This type of activity encourages today's youth to dare to take this backhoe course to have a future job. This is a great benefit that AES Chile gives us, which has allowed us to move to a new stage of work and thus be able to develop professionally in heavy machinery."

This group of participants is expected to explore the job opportunities available in the commune of Los Ángeles. To this end, and in line with AES Chile's Social Investment strategy, this milestone will be reported to the commune's labor intermediation office (OMIL).

The initiative was carried out within the framework of the Social Investment strategy that the AES Chile Foundation carries out in the areas of influence where the company's wind operations are located.
