  • The organization estimates that construction will begin during the first semester of next year

Members of the Rural Neighborhood Association No. 6 Rapelco in Mulchén described the acquisition of a 5,000-square-meter plot of land as the realization of a dream they had Mulchén Neighborhood Association Acquires Land for Their Social Headquarters with Support from AES Chilenurtured for several years. The goal of this community is to have a space for assembly meetings and various activities, as until now, they had to conduct these activities in the local educational establishment.

The purchase of the land became possible through a collaboration agreement with the Los Olmos Wind Farm operated by AES Chile, to which this organization belongs. Angela Contreras, president of the Rural Neighborhood Association No. 6 of Rapelco, expressed their joy at acquiring the land. She emphasized that finding a nearby space for sale was a complex process, and thanks to God and AES Chile’s support, their dream finally materialized.

The next step for the association is to build their community and social headquarters. They are fully focused on fundraising, including contributions from AES Chile’s 2024 participatory funds. “We project the execution and construction of our social headquarters for the first semester of next year. Having a place to gather will hold great significance for our community as we continue to grow and advance,” stated Ángela Contreras.

Macarena Badilla, head of social investment at the AES Chile Foundation, highlighted that “through the acquisition of this land, we are promoting community development, strengthening their sense of belonging, and encouraging participation in community life, which aligns with our company’s values.”

The AES Chile Foundation, guided by its Social Investment Strategy with three pillars—Education and Training, Local Development with a focus on entrepreneurship, and Community Infrastructure Initiatives—aims to contribute to the growth and sustainability of communities, in line with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals set forth in the 2030 Agenda.
