More than 140 projects applied for the 12th version of the San José de Maipo Competitive Fund.

At the end of the application period, which occurred on Friday, January 31, 2025, 109 entrepreneurs and 32 social organizations submitted their projects that addressed the four funding areas of the Fund: education and training; Social, Tourist, and Cultural Development. Community Use Infrastructure, safety, and energy efficiency; support for sports in its various disciplines and the promotion of productive activities.
After the application stage, there is an admissibility and technical evaluation process in which it is reviewed that the projects meet the required documentation to then be evaluated by an external consultant, who is guided by the evaluation criteria established in the bases. For this version, there are $134,929,764 million pesos that will be distributed among the different areas of the Fund.
The director of Fundación AES Chile, Paola Olivares, expressed her satisfaction with the high number of applications received and highlighted that, on this occasion, "there were many long-standing businesses that applied for the fund." Olivares added that "in this 12th version, in response to the needs raised by the participants, we incorporated sub-areas that seek to enhance the presentation of initiatives in line with community safety, environmental care, and energy efficiency."
During the application process, 9 workshops were held by Fundación AES Chile team in Las Vertientes, El Manzano, San Gabriel, San Alfonso, Maitenes, Alfalfal, Baños Morales, and two in urban San José de Maipo. These workshops were held in the social headquarters of the localities and were attended by 110 people. In addition, advice was provided to social organizations and entrepreneurs, which sought to guide ideas for the project according to the chosen area. One of the most relevant aspects of this year was that the attendees learned to design a budget framework.
The San José de Maipo Competitive Fund began in 2012 and is part of the Social Agreement signed between the Communal Union of Neighborhood Councils of San José de Maipo, the Illustrious Municipality of the commune, and AES Chile, as a result of the construction of the Alto Maipo project. This instance finances local projects in various areas, with an annual contribution of 5,807 UF (The amount is distributed between the execution of the Alto Maipo Contribution Scholarship and the Competitive Funds) for 30 years from the date of the agreement signing.
