In order to open their doors to the community, the Cochrane and Angamos plants of AES Chile received the visit of the member companies of the Mejillones Industrial Association (AIM).

The initiative is part of the Puertas Abiertas program, whose objective is for the community to learn about the company's operations and projects throughout the country.

The delegation was received by the Manager of the North Complex of AES Chile, Vanni Boggio, who gave a presentation on the operation of the plants, to later tour the main facilities of both thermoelectric complexes.

Together with the General Manager of the union, José Robles, representatives of eight partner companies participated: GNL, Corpesca, Noracid, Promet, Oxiquim, Gasmar, Molynor and Interacid, who toured the operating areas and met the main equipment of the plants, such as boilers, turbines, desalination and demineralization plants, together with the cooling systems of the thermoelectric units.

The visit also included the control room, where the representatives were able to verify the monitoring and emission abatement systems on site.

"This visit has allowed us to dispel myths and learn that AES Chile has advanced technology to have an operation of excellence, not only environmental, but also socially," said AIM General Manager, José Robles.

Along with thanking the partner companies for their interest, Vanni Boggio assured that "this type of initiative constitutes an opportunity to share knowledge and experiences that help to understand the particularities of the operation, both of the National Electric System and of the generating plants, and the importance of ensuring a reliable and safe energy supply for the country”.

Meanwhile, Karina Rivadeneira, AIM project consultant, stated that "the best thing about this visit has been to learn in depth about the security levels that AES Chile has at its facilities in Mejillones."
