Local council launches third version of the Social Investment Fund for the Los Olmos wind farm

New community dreams will begin to materialize in the coming months for the six organizations in the area of influence of the Los Olmos de Mulchén wind farm, after the local council session of its Social Investment Fund was held this week.
During the meeting, the schedule that will start the third version of the Social Investment Fund for the execution of the projects was established.
The initiative consists of the delivery of resources for the development of community projects aimed at improving the quality of life of the inhabitants, through funds that will be granted annually during the useful life of the wind farm.
On this occasion, it was also reported that the projects of the second version addressed mainly three areas: education and training, environmental care and community infrastructure.
Carlos Burgos, president of the Sol de Septiembre neighborhood council, indicated that with the resources of this third version his organization wants to install new solar panels to be able to supply the 29 homes of its members with photovoltaic solar energy. “With what we have, we have been able to see a decrease in electricity bills and at this time it is very important to continue maintaining that,” said Burgos.
Meanwhile, Paola Olivares, director of the AES Chile Foundation, said that “it is a pleasure to see how neighbors organize themselves to achieve common goals that benefit everyone. That is precisely the objective of this fund.”
The session was held at the wind farm facilities and was attended by the neighborhood associations of: Malven Araucano, Sol de Septiembre, Aurora de Enero, Rapelco, the Malven Colhue Indigenous Association and the San Luis de Malven Committee. Also present were Jaime Ramírez, Director of Community Development of the Municipality of Mulchén, who serves as president of this council, Rubén Barahona, Head of Operations of the Los Olmos Wind Farm, Karin Niklander, Communications Manager of AES Andes, and the Technical Secretariat, which is made up of the Director of the AES Chile Foundation, Paola Olivares, and the Head and Coordinator of Social Investment of the Foundation, Macarena Badilla, and Carolina Rivas, respectively.
