More than 60 students and teachers toured the plant, within the framework of the agreement between AES Chile and INACAP to promote teaching about emission-free energy.
Inacap students from Los Angeles deepened their knowledge of renewable energy with a visit to the Los Olmos Wind Farm

Reaffirming its commitment to encouraging education around the development of renewable energies, the Los Olmos Wind Farm of AES Chile received a visit from 61 INACAP students and professors from the Los Angeles headquarters.
The activity is part of the Open Doors program and the joint work that the company has been carrying out for two years with the professional institute, which includes training and transfer of knowledge on issues related to the decarbonization process and the development of renewable energies in the country. , especially in the Biobío region.
On the occasion, the group belonging to the Technician and Engineering courses in Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency, made a visit to the wind power plant, which was divided into three days, given the high number of students interested in participating.
It all started with the safety induction, to later give way to the technical talk that the head of Operations and Maintenance of Los Olmos, Rubén Barahona, gave; in which he delved into the importance of wind generation for the National Electric System (SEC).
"The technical visit is an instance of on-site learning for the students, since it allows them to learn about the reality behind energy generation, the operation of a wind turbine and the components present in the facilities," said the executive.
Subsequently, the students and teachers toured the main facilities and components of the park located in Mulchén, such as some wind turbines and the electrical substation.
Aldo Cea Anfossi, INACAP teacher, commented that “it is extremely important to have the opportunity to visit the wind farm, since the student can better size and understand the operation of the equipment present in the electrical substation, wind tower and park. in themselves."
Meanwhile, Pamela Vergara, students of the Renewable Energy Technician degree, stated that “I like wind generation and I think it is wonderful to have the possibility of getting closer to the facilities and learning in the field how they work every day to generate energy. It was an enriching experience".
About Los Olmos
Los Olmos is a 110 MW wind farm located in the commune of Mulchén, which injects renewable energy into the National Electric System. It is part of the Greentegra transformational strategy that AES Chile launched in May 2018 and which, along with accelerating the future of energy, seeks to contribute to mitigating the effects of climate change.
