WITH THE SUPPORT OF THE SAN MATÍAS WIND FARM:

El Porvenir Neighborhood Board renews the roof of its social headquarters

August 29, 2024

  • The work will benefit more than 200 people who regularly use the establishment, and was made possible thanks to the Confidence Fund associated with the AES Chile project.

The members of the El Porvenir Neighborhood Board of Los Ángeles will be able to better cope with the winds and rains of the winter season thanks to the replacement of the roof of the oldest section of its social headquarters, which corresponds to the bathroom, kitchen and storage area.

The renovation of the roof was possible thanks to the Confidence Fund, established within the framework of the Collaboration and Mutual Benefit Agreement of the San Matías Wind Project of AES Chile. This new arrangement is added to the expansion of the headquarters carried out thanks to the Community Infrastructure Fund in 2023.

This improvement benefits more than 200 people since, in addition to the neighborhood council, this space is shared by members of different social organizations in the area such as sports and senior citizen clubs, health workshops, Rural Drinking Water Committee, among others.

Neftalí Bianchi, president of the El Porvenir Neighborhood Council, explained that “with the excess of rain that there was this winter, with this climate, we decided in assembly to use these funds to repair the roof and not have problems in the future, with the passage of water.” The social leader also expressed his gratitude to the San Matías Wind Farm for the financing for this project and other advances for the community.

For his part, Benjamín Rengifo, Head of Territorial Management and Communities for the Southern Zone of AES Chile, highlighted that “we are very pleased to be able to complete this project with the El Porvenir Residents’ Association, which will allow the sector to have an ideal location to carry out the different community activities. One of the fundamental pillars of our social investment strategy is precisely the community infrastructure, which favors the promotion and development of the social fabric of social organizations in the territory.”
