In order to deepen their musical knowledge and rescue the traditions of the area, the folkloric group Brisa Campesina from the community of Las Trancas participated in a guitar workshop with the support of AES Chile's Campo Lindo Wind Farm.
The initiative seeks to provide practical tools in the use of this traditional instrument and that contribute to the musical repertoire of the group, which is part of the area of influence of the wind power plant located in Los Angeles.
The first class of the workshop was held on May 25 and will conclude with a second session on Thursday the 15th at the neighborhood council headquarters. Seven members of the singing body of the Brisa Campesina group participated in the activity - led by the prominent teacher and musician Simón Pincheira.
During the session, the members of Brisa Campesina were able to delve into the basic theory and practical exercises, as well as the parts of the guitar, chords, rhythms and some techniques to improve mobility.
Professor Pincheira assured that "the main objective of the workshop is to provide practical tools to autonomously refresh the list of songs that the folkloric group has incorporated into the list of repertoires of each presentation, in addition to providing a comfortable and close space to be able to work in confidence.
He added that "we seek to incorporate a little musical practice, since the course is made based on the real context of the community, understanding that they are not professional musicians, but traditional musicians."
Lorena Maldonado, president of the musical group, commented that "it is a very good initiative, since the members of the group wanted to learn to play the guitar and are looking forward to the next class."
Meanwhile, Benjamin Rengifo, Territorial Head of Biobío Community Relations of AES Chile, said that "we are very happy to be able to contribute to providing this type of opportunity to neighbors, because beyond learning a particular instrument, this implies contributing with a grain of sand to the folkloric traditions of the rural area of our city”.
