AIEP Advisory Council Charts Roadmap to Address Key Gaps in the Biobío Province
December 10, 2024
Recently, in Los Ángeles, the AIEP Regional Advisory Council convened, bringing together public and private sector actors, including Fundación AES Chile, with the aim of identifying priority territorial gaps and co-designing initiatives to address them. This involved gathering key information and formulating an action plan with concrete goals.
During this latest meeting, key challenges for the Biobío province were identified, such as the informality of rural enterprises, inequality in access to education and opportunities, and the need to improve connectivity in rural areas. To tackle these challenges, participants agreed to conduct studies to better understand community needs, implement digital literacy and composting training workshops, and develop mentoring programs aimed at students.
"This advisory council has been fundamental in establishing shared leadership and defining a clear roadmap to address the territorial gaps in our region. We are committed to working with our community partners to foster local development and improve the quality of life in our communities," highlighted Tatiana Igor, director of AIEP Los Ángeles.
For her part, Carolina Rivas, Social Investment Coordinator of Fundación AES Chile, valued the instance, noting that "these meetings are key to generating alliances that promote the sustainable development of our neighboring communities. They also allow us to share experiences and understand the diverse realities of the territory."
Rivas added, "We are grateful to be part of this initiative that seeks to improve the quality of life in the communities."
The main work axes of the AIEP Advisory Council for the next year include: strengthening rural entrepreneurship through training and mentoring programs; promoting education and skill development with digital literacy programs and practical workshops to improve the population's competencies and facilitate their labor insertion; and fostering sustainability through environmental education projects and renewable energy development to promote sustainable development in the region.
