AES Chile is part of the Strategic Committee that will design the Business Action Plan on Biodiversity

Santiago,AES Chile is one of the companies that, together with the Ministry of the Environment and Acción Empresas, will design the Business Action Plan on Biodiversity, which aims to provide a tool to promote the conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity.

The plan was announced by the Minister of the Environment, Maisa Rojas, and the general manager of Acción Empresas, Marcela Bravo, who were accompanied by representatives of the companies that are part of the Strategic Business Committee established to design the tool.

In addition to AES Chile, other companies present at this event include ARAUCO, Antofagasta Minerals, Angloamerican Chile, Banco Santander, Bayer, CMPC, Colbún, Copec, Nestlé, Orizon, SQM, and Syngenta.

Juan Carlos Monckeberg, Director of Environment at AES Chile, stated, "At AES Chile, we have committed to reducing impacts on biodiversity through the development of our Biodiversity Strategy. We have joined the Business Action Plan on Biodiversity because through it, we hope to consolidate a shared business vision that allows us to identify best practices related to the mitigation, reparation, and compensation of environmental impacts on biodiversity."

The Business Action Plan on Biodiversity aims to guide the Chilean business sector to actively contribute to meeting the Global Biodiversity Framework Kunming-Montreal, as well as the goals of the updated National Biodiversity Strategy.

The initiative includes various participation mechanisms, including a public-private working group led by Acción Empresas and the Ministry of the Environment, which involves key stakeholders, macro-zonal workshops for the design of the action plan, and dissemination activities to share biodiversity knowledge, highlighting its importance for the business and financial sector.
