AES Andes launches second version of the Energy Innovation Challenge

AES Andes launched the second version of the Energy Innovation Challenge, a challenge designed to continue promoting renewable energies and the most innovative solutions, in an effort to accelerate the transition towards a more sustainable future.

On this occasion, the challenge posed to university students who have completed their second year of study seeks to find innovative solutions that optimize the construction, operation and maintenance of solar photovoltaic projects and energy storage systems with batteries.

Given that the challenges in the different stages of the life of these projects are permanent, it is necessary to address them with an innovative proposal to continue contributing to the country's energy transition.

We are experiencing a crucial moment in the country's energy transition and we must all contribute to have a more sustainable future.  We are very much looking forward to seeing the creative solutions that will emerge from this challenge.”

How to Participate?

Students from the third year of undergraduate studies have to form teams of 4 to 5 people belonging to any academic discipline, who demonstrate interest in the energy sector.

Team registrations must be made through the form available at https://www.aesandes.com/en/aes-innovation-challenge. Once this stage is completed, the challenge will be sent to you for resolution and preparation of proposals. The projects will be evaluated by AES Andes collaborators, and the 8 finalist teams will present their ideas in a final in-person round at the company's offices in Santiago.

This year, first place will have a prize of US$4,000, second place will receive US$3,000 and third place will receive US$1,500, in addition to a visit to one of the company's renewable operations.
